Oak and Willow EXCERPT: Video

THE OAK AND THE WILLOW - (EXCERPT)

2021

"He touched his hand to the great oaks that spread throughout the land, and remembered their master, Perun: Lord of the storms and mountains, master of the sky. He looked upon the willows and remembered, Veles: dragon of the Harvest. He saw these trees and he remembered.

Time that had long come to pass filled the air as Perun sat perched at the peak of the world, and Veles crept up from below to steal away all that belonged to him. The natural order had been disrupted, and the dragon would need to be corrected.

The man thought on his teachings. Veles was not an evil creature by nature, he was simply the opposite of perun, a duality of nature. Just as there is Perun and Veles, there is the earth and the sky. As the water rises to the heavens, so too does it fall. The world is simultaneous in its orderly and chaotic states.

Just as true in the self as in the earth, change is as necessary as the constant."

This is an excerpt of an animation that I developed to tell the myth of Veles and Perun; two figures of the old slavic faith. Created in collaboration with Jan J Močnik, a musician from Slovenia. Currently it is being refined for entry into the indie circuit.
